Following years of success in the Construction Industry, which included local firms and his father's agricultural construction business Colin decided to make a life-changing decision. Instead of the cut and thrust of construction, he wanted to help people and make a difference in people’s lives.

In October 2017 he approached Angelo, a long-time friend, to retrain and head up the Mortgage arm of AKORN Financial Advice Limited. Despite the UKs uncertain financial outlook, Colin grew the Mortgage and Protection side of the business and created opportunities for more advisers. He also expanded the advice proposition to include the highly specialist Equity Release advice area.

Then, in July 2020, Colin was promoted to Head of Mortgage, Protection and Equity Release. It became one of his proudest moments in business.

Outside of work, family is of big importance to Colin and he likes to spend as much time with his daughters and girlfriend. You can find him driving tractors and diggers occasionally, playing the drums far too loudly and swinging a golf club badly. 

And it would be wrong to not mention his passion for Blackburn Rovers and the occasional craft beer (sometimes at Tap Select in Oswaldtwistle).
